OUR CULTURE - WHERE IT BEGINS

Culture in human relationships comprises of ideas and customs of a people that are transferred, communicated or passed along to succeeding generations.

Culture begins in the home based on family values. It is what we see, learn. hear, and experience living within our family unit. From infancy to adulthood we are emotionally shaped and molded by our parents and siblings. For example, a family who experience drug issues, spousal and/or child abuse develops shame, guilt, low self-esteem and feelings of helplessness. As time passes, things become hopeless and professional help is required.

Everyone in the family become victims. The very fact that you live in the family and have observed, and heard a loved one use drugs, or being verbally abused and hurt within the family unit, you are as much of a victim as the the one who experience direct abuse.

Every member in the family will experiences shame, guilt and anger. For some individuals these feelings will lead to self-destructive behaviour duplicating what they have seen and heard while growing up. Other members in the family may be vulnerable to emotional pain and violence by others in the community outside the family unit. No matter how you define culture and history of a people, culture begins in the home.

The Environment - CHOICES WE MAKE

Despite the fact that our parents influence our behaviour during our developmental years, the environment steps in, and to a very considerable degree overcomes or inhibits all what we may have learned or practiced. Although the environment cannot create, it can decide which out of a collection of rival and opposing behaviors on the one hand and capacities for change on the other, shall dominate all other associative, rival and opposing ideas and impulses. In our own time, it decides such points as choice of spouse, a particular brand of religion and politics. It is in this way, for instance, that we may create a negative environment such as addiction, illicit drug use and criminality , or apply  principles that lead to the realization of healthy living, education and employment.   When you change your environment or move away to another place you also change your perspective on living.

The origion of religion began with Phallicism (sex worship).

In this lies its importance. So true is this it may safely be stated that no one who neglects the study of phallic worship can hope to acquire any adequate understanding of the origin of religion.

According to the ancients, God was originally an hermaphrodite.

This image is Ardanari-Iswara, representing the hermaphroditic creative deity.

Note the triad and the serpent in the hand of the male section, and the germinating seed in the hand of the female part; the whole standing upon the lotus, symbol of androgynity. Of this deity, Professor H.H.Wilson (1862), one of the first European scholars to produce a scholarly translation of a major Hindu sacred text says: "The supreme spirit in the act of creation...The right side was male. the left was Prakriti. She is of one form of Brahma, she is Maya, eternal and imperishable, such is the Spirit, such is the inherent energy (the sacti) as the faculty of burning is inherent in fire."
